13 Feb 3 Easy Tips on How To Street Style! feat. Adaeze of Styletitude
I pondered on this title for quite a few minutes, but you wouldn’t know that. I was trying to decide if to write ” Styletitudebyada” or “Adaeze of Styletitude”, or like she did in our first collaboration on her blog, “blogger babe, Ada”. Lol. You can see our first collaboration here and pick up a few great tips on The Art of Layering. And now, How to Street Style!
Street is simply style you find on the street: everyday, fashionable, people-on-the-street, style. It’s fashion as expressed by the consumers of fashion and not the makers of it.
I love street style so much because there’s also such personality, vibrancy, creativity and boldness involved. You’d surely find me poring over fashion blogs and Pinterest during fashion season, just absorbing all the amazing street style.
I collaborated with Adaeze of styletitude.com to put give you my 3 tips on how to street style successfully! Plus you’d definitely catch that street style photographers’ eye (aka look absolutely stylish)!
While I’m not one to jump on trends, they are eye catching and easy to spot. So, if there’s any trend you love and that resonates with your personal style, go ahead and incorporate it into your look!
For me, I incorporated the animal print trend. I love leopard prints and I happen to have a t-shirt and a pair of shoes in leopard print. I decided to match them and use a dark colored pair of palazzo pants to complete the look.
2.Go Bold or Go Home!
Doing something extra and bold will definitely get your look to street style worthy. You can wear a basic pair of jeans and top then rock those quirky extra shoes or you can wear your dress differently like my blogger babe Adaeze did here.
She layered a short red skirt over a denim shirt dress! That little outside-the-box thinking is what street style is about! Notice her print shoes too? Yesss extra!
I personally believe that if you put me in rags and just give me some basic accessories I’ll turn myself into a bag of money. My favorite accessories to rock are:
-Vintage, Funky Sunglasses
You can see accessories on both me and Ada’s look and see how it added the needed “oomph” to our outfit! Accessorizing is key!
What Ada had to say:
Before we had this shoot, Ada asked me what street style meant to me. I’d say street style is style that is not only personal to you but displays your personality too, the style you can find yourself in and be comfortable yet highly stylish. When you’re thinking street style, you’re most likely thinking, denim, sneakers, prints, pallazos, oversized fits, some basics, etc
So here’s my pro tip: in my opinion, the cardinal rule of street style is not to look like you tried too hard. Try to work pieces effortlessly, break the rules. Unlike other genres of fashion which often present clothes as fantasy, street style is more inherently wearable and often the most immediately gratifying.
